Located in Kentish Town's conservation area, Leverton Street scheme is a conversion of the end of terrace Victorian house into two self-contained, split level dwellings with extensions to the rear and a mansard loft.
Leverton Street, an end of terrace Victorian house, had been unoccupied for over five years and had formally been a women’s refuge. It was purchased by our clients at an auction in 2017 and was to be extensively altered to create two self-contained, duplex flats for a brother and sister.
Their vision for the project was to allow for independence whilst encouraging family life. Each has its own entrance to the street, stairwells and makes full use of the compact building footprint, with shared amenity space on the ground floor. Internally, each dwelling has its own identity through the use of colour and materials, capturing the personality of each of the clients.
Informed by the historical significance of the building, the project restores the ornamentation of the original facades and celebrates it through the use of colour. The brick-clad rear extensions complement the character of the existing building, tying the whole project together.
