Jessie was faced with the challenge of creating purpose and intention for a pass-thru room that was somewhat undefined. With careful thought and creativity, she transformed this space into a cozy in-home lounge that exudes character.
Vintage details were brought in to the post-modern design, giving the space a sense of history and charm. Stand out pieces include the vintage piano, refurbished vintage chair, and vintage table base reimagined as a planter. Jessie sourced the sofa from Sunbeam Vintage in LA (where she recently renovated the showroom!) to pull in soft leather complimenting the room's marble and concrete details. For some contrast, the window panes were painted to mimic the steel doors in the entry way. Distinctive artwork brings in color and play. The painting is by favored artist, Martin Summers and the torn paper collage was done by local artist, Sharlene Kayne.
To further enhance the vintage feel, fluted cabinetry and antique mirroring on the bar were installed. The original bar was awkwardly not accessible. Jessie problem solved, making it user friendly and fabulous. The Aerin sconces by Visual Comfort and Kelly Wearstler pendant light are just the right touch of mood lighting.
Wood paneling makes a comeback, adding a touch of elegance and warmth, while also creating separation from other spaces in the home. The curves of the 1980s elements gives balance to the picture framing millwork. The paneling was carefully crafted to be a defining element of the room, offering a sense of intimacy that is perfect for a lounging area.
