The refurbishment of a  former factory in Cascais, now houses the new headquarters of Maferis/3PM. The intervention responded to a precise and functional programme, distributing the space into the three main areas: offices, warehouse, and technical support, complemented by a kitchenette/canteen and changing rooms.

The architectural strategy respected the structural logic and spatial potential of the existing building, preserving its industrial character while introducing a new functional hierarchy. In the technical areas: warehouse, maintenance, and wash zone, a raw, resistant language was maintained, with deliberately robust materials and exposed finishes. Their roughness affirms the building’s operative nature and embraces the clarity of construction.

A single, continuous cabinet runs along the full length of space, concealing protruding columns and folding towards the reception. Its composition of solids and voids echoes, on a different scale, the suspended ceiling lightboxes, which conceal existing beams and shape the ambient light into a quite architectural rhythm.

The open-plan office includes a reception, waiting area, shared workspace, director's office, and meeting room. The last is configured as a single, independent volume: detached from both floor and ceiling, appearing to float, emphasised by recessed lighting. The choice of white cork for flooring, walls, and cabinetry responds to acoustic and thermal comfort requirements, creating choesion and spatial continuity.

Large glazed openings anchor the interior to the exterior and welcome natural light. The overall palette is muted and luminous, allowing the dark volumes of the sanitary areas and floating core stand out. A delicate equilibrium between robustness and lightness, where architecture becomes a silent framework for daily life. A place to work with clarity and ease: carefully designed with the goal of being inhabited with comfort and intention.
