Defining Contemporary Coastal Architecture
Designed by WGB Arquitetura e Engenharia, Casa Maria Otto stands as a refined expression of modern residential architecture in the coastal town of Balneário Piçarras, Brazil. The project achieves a striking visual balance through bold geometric volumes, clean horizontal lines, and a curated mix of textures.

A key highlight of the upper facade is the vertical wooden slatted accent panels (brise-soleil), which add warmth and rhythmic contrast against the crisp white structural frame and dark trim. Complementing this feature, an integrated architectural lighting scheme—including subtle under-edge LED strips and up/down wall sconces—illuminates the natural stone texture along the perimeter wall, casting a warm ambiance as dusk falls.

Beyond aesthetics, the architectural design prioritizes thermal performance and optimal daylighting. Generous window openings framed in dark metal profiles create a seamless indoor-outdoor connection, tailored specifically to enhance coastal living while maintaining comfort throughout the seasons.

Comprehensive Engineering & Multidisciplinary Integration
To bring this architectural vision to life without compromising structural integrity or long-term efficiency, WGB Arquitetura e Engenharia provided a fully integrated design and engineering ecosystem:

Architectural Project: Intelligent spatial distribution focused on timeless aesthetics, daily functionality, and fluid circulation.
Structural & Foundation Engineering: Custom calculations and foundation sizing adapted to the coastal soil conditions, guaranteeing long-term stability and durability.
Hydraulic & Sanitary Systems: Efficient water distribution, drainage, and sustainable water management solutions designed for low maintenance.
Electrical Engineering & Lighting Layout: A customized electrical grid that seamlessly powers dedicated circuits while accentuating the building’s geometric forms through strategic lighting design.
Fire Safety & Prevention: Full compliance with safety codes and local standards, offering peace of mind to the homeowners.
The Value of an Integrated Approach
By managing both architectural design and multi-disciplinary engineering under a single unified team, WGB minimizes discrepancies between design and construction. This holistic workflow reduces material waste, optimizes budget management, and streamlines the building process from initial concept to final approval.
