A Timeless Retreat Inspired by the Essence of Priorat

Astet Studio, the acclaimed Barcelona-based design and architecture firm, is excited to introduce its latest project: MAS D’EN BRUNO, a refined and serene hotel nestled in the heart of Priorat, one of Spain’s most cherished wine regions.

The concept behind GRAND HOTEL MAS D’EN BRUNO draws deeply from its natural surroundings and the rich history of the region, crafting a dialogue between tradition and modernity. Priorat’s renowned connection to winemaking serves as the conceptual foundation for the project, with burgundy accents subtly integrated into furniture and special design elements throughout the hotel's interiors. This thoughtful detail evokes an elegant yet earthy atmosphere, honouring the land’s heritage while embracing contemporary sophistication.

Architecture and Interior Design: Bridging Tradition and Modernity

The main building’s distinctive architecture acts as a canvas for Astet Studio’s creative vision. The arch, a recurring element on the building’s façade, is echoed throughout the interiors, creating a seamless transition between the exterior and interior spaces. This architectural motif links tradition with modernity, fostering a sophisticated dialogue that feels both timeless and fresh.

The original stone masonry of the main building has been preserved, respecting its historical essence. This is artfully contrasted with more serene, contemporary materials, striking a balance between the past and the present. The atelier building, an extension of the main structure, mirrors this material palette, creating a cohesive language throughout the property.

Spaces of Relaxation and Contemplation

The hotel’s rooms are designed as tranquil sanctuaries where serenity and sophistication converge. A curated palette of noble materials—including oak wood, stucco, stone, and red marble—establishes rich yet harmonious tones, enhancing the sense of warmth and timelessness. The recurring use of arches as room dividers adds continuity, while the open-concept bathrooms break with traditional layouts, offering guests uninterrupted views of the surrounding landscape.

Common Areas: Versatility and Timeless Elegance

The common areas of MAS D’EN BRUNO, from the restaurant to the library and spa, extend the sensory experience of the hotel. Here, the material palette is adapted to suit each space, either reinforcing or creating contrast as needed. The restaurant is a flexible space that can accommodate various needs, with deep burgundy accents once again appearing in the furnishings and décor. The library offers a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere, encouraging guests to delve into knowledge or engage in meaningful conversations. Natural oak shelves, paired with timeless furniture and carefully curated lighting, bring a warm, inviting vibe. The Spa is an intimate experience where smooth and warm materials adorn the space. During the excavation in the spa, ruins from the 18th century were discovered so the general intervention was to respect the history and create a contemporary dialogue that kept the context protected yet met the needs for a warm and serene refuge. A duality between old and new.

Seamless Integration with Nature

The hotel’s outdoor spaces are designed to merge seamlessly with the surrounding vineyards, creating inviting areas for guests to unwind and immerse themselves in the pristine beauty of Priorat. These open-air spaces encourage a deep connection with nature, further enhancing the MAS D’EN BRUNO experience. With this project, Astet Studio once again demonstrates its ability to transcend fleeting trends, combining respect for historical context with innovative, contemporary design. MAS D’EN BRUNO is not just a hotel but a celebration of the senses, the landscape, and the rich cultural heritage of Priorat.
