MD Codes Institute

For his new clinic, Dr de Maio, the inventor of the MD Codes, wanted a space that could house the various activities carried out by him and his team, and that would be able to express his avant-garde style of practicing medicine, as well as functionality and efficiency to a maximum degree. We chose a floor in a Leed building in Nova Faria, the largest business center in São Paulo, with double height, and, consequently, with the potential to build a mezzanine, making up the total built area of 800,00m².

The MD Codes Institute was designed to promote the right flows, organizing the circulation of physicians and staff separate from patients, and mainly separating the area of clinical care from the area of education where doctors from all over the world come to participate in courses and lectures.  Another independent flow is of inputs and residual products, all to avoid cross-circulation and maintain privacy.

In the center of the lower floor is the reception desk.  Patients are directed to the clinic on the right, where they are received by the support team, and sent to the photo studio.  Then they are treated by Dr. de Maio in one of the procedure rooms.

On the left side of the reception is the Courses and Recordings area.  Visiting physicians are received in a lounge with library and coffee, and then they are directed to the classroom and Hands On procedures. The Back Office is also located in this area with the audiovisual and recording team.

On the upper floor, adjacent to a lounge with a very comfortable coffee area, a meeting room and the offices of Dr de Maio and the administration.

To connect the two sides on the upper floor, we designed an angled walkway; as for the ceiling, we created a luminous layout with LED profiles that, in addition to illuminating, enhances its shape and brings a technological language.

The clinic was designed to meet the regulation of the Brazilian regulatory agency, ANVISA, with wide corridors, medication room, nursing station, purge, sterilization, and cleaning material deposit.

Our project was conceptualized on the customer’s idea of creating the concept of “Next Human” and we translated this idea spatially and chose a white palette composed of shiny white porcelain tiles, white metallic brises, white laminate coverings, colorless glass partitions, the only exceptions being the metallic profiles of the partitions that are black and the furniture that goes from white to black, wood and natural leather to red.

There were countless improvements but I believe that two are the main ones: being able to, focus all the activities developed by Dr. de Maio in one place and being able to create a language that has to do with the way he works and with the Brand he represents and reach a functional and aesthetic result that will further strengthen the image of his Institute.
