Monarch Village on the property of the Lawrence Community Shelter is an innovative shelter solution that meets the needs of families experiencing homelessness in rapidly changing world while supporting thier transistion to permenant housing. Using used shippping containers Studio 804 donated and built 12 safe units that offer families much privacy and removing them from the gymnasium like rooms full of bunk beds common to homeless shelters.
The project is built to meet USGBC LEED Platinum standards. Three solar panels are mounted to the roof of each container and provide needed energy for each.
