The project consists of an extension on the roof of an apartment. This apartment is the one of owner of the gallery that occupies the rest of the building.
Thanks to the new roof created above the existing building, the apartment is spread over three levels, with three bedrooms and a terrace.
The development of bright and generous spaces is made possible thanks to the new profile of this roof, integrated in the adjoining context. This new roof follows the existing profile and then aligns with the neighboring roof.
The whole of the intervention is done via a series of sober materials. Both roofs are covered with a black steel cladding, this is a sheet of Arcelor Mittal type TRAPEZA. The details of implementation have been carefully studied to make it as fine and elegant as possible.
The railing of the terrace is made of black thermo-lacquered caillebottis, matching the roofing sheet. Everything has been done with great economy in mind. This project for us maximizes the interior space, creates an elegant and refined contrast between the old and the new all in a controlled economy.
Another part of the project involved the construction of a new showroom at the back of the building to replace an old veranda.
The structure has been designed to be rational, elegant and to support a future terrace. This structure is made of thermo-lacquered steel with individual boxes that have been bolted on site. A gap between these boxes allows to integrate spot rails or neons to illuminate the exhibition space.
The structure thins at the ends to give a movement of refinement. The thickness also allows to make sun break at certain times. This structure has reduced the impact on the ground to a single column, the rest on the peripheral walls.
