Within the area development of SADC, Schiphol Trade Park, Vailog sees opportunities to develop a multistorey distribution centre. Starting point in our design is a clear and compact building. The plan allows a varied implementation of tenants and functions, without compromising the powerful appearance. The building has a floor area of 80,000 m2 and a length of 250 meters, and has a continuous anthracite concrete plinth where the docks merge into. Above the plinth, we chose for a vertical, white corrugated sheet that provides varied outlines combined with the rounded building. The spectacular ramp which unlocks the floors for freight is carried by a construction of sloped precast concrete columns. The goal is to achieve a BREEAM Excellent certification in the drawing up of the building. Particularly in the application of materials and by placing photovoltaic panels on the roof there are opportunities for an exceptionally sustainable distribution centre.
