The Saint-Leu district is a popular district characteristic of the Amiens landscape. The historic Pirates Moon, a strong element of the cultural landscape of Amiens, is also a result of this popular culture. It seemed sensible not to give this equipment an institutional image but rather to anchor the future music hall in its belonging to this culture. In the immediate vicinity of the site is the faculty of Picardy Jules Verne, due to the architect Henri Gaudin, a building which, rightly, benefits him from a very strong institutional image. In order to stage this building, we propose the creation of a pedestrian crossing, focused on the main entrance of the faculty of sciences, revealing since the Saint-Leu Street and remarkable architectural object. The project of the New Moon of the Pirates thus obeys two simultaneous objectives: the staging of the project of Henri Gaudin and the anchoring of the Smac in this popular culture which prevails to its creation.
Taking the typology characteristic of double-slope roofing of the Saint- Leu district, we propose as a molding of this district of city, in concrete, of which each volume takes again the programmatic data and which thus erases in front of the faculty. The project can be read as a perched village, raised, floating on a light base welcoming the entrance hall, and the various services related to the room. The project allows a reconstruction of the island, treating the missing parcels by recreating connections in a logic of continuity of the templates. Thus, the rehearsal studios, close the island to the North while the great room and the administration recompos the islet south.
