In the midst of Prague’s latest urban growth, we crafted a calm, rhythmic interior for a manicure and pedicure salon — a typology new to us, yet common in the city. The unfamiliarity became a productive challenge, anchored in close collaboration with the client, who guided us through the choreography of the space.

At the center of this performance is the visitor and their experience — designed to lift them out of the ordinary. We shaped both the dramaturgy and the scenography of each act: from the reception desk, through the long manicure table, the elevated pedicure thrones, to the restrooms and backstage, hidden behind a curved volume enclosing a room for clients seeking greater privacy. Every form and spatial layer is composed to draw the visitor deeper into the theatre of the salon.

A theatre on the edge of shadowplay, animated by backlit fiberglass partitions and the task lights of each station — spotlights for the stars of the show. Light becomes both material and medium, curving the space and dissolving its real dimensions.

Other materials and colors are subdued into a palette of warm simplicity and light tones. Tactile elements such as upholstery and wood are reserved for objects that serve or present themselves to the client. The palette was carefully chosen to reflect the client’s emphasis on care — for the space, for the visitor’s comfort, and for the broader understanding of service as wellness.
