The concrete core cooling and warming makes for a sustainable and comfortable workspace and creates a steady interior climate. The absence of suspended ceilings reduces material usage and lays open the building technology.
From Draft to Design
The location was the determining factor for the shape of the building. The landscape rises off the ground and surrounds the first floor where the working space is situated. The glass front creates a bright working environment with a glorious view over the landscape, whereby the edge of the building juts out a few meters to protect the offices from the sun.
In return, the parking is hidden under the building and the showroom on the ground floor is exposed towards the public space.
Connecting Lobby
The lobby plays an important role in the building as it connects the floors via a prominent staircase and stands for the transparency of Nathan.
Shape Meets Technology
The design of the building is adjusted to its surroundings in order to support the zero-energy concept. The orientation of the offices towards the south profits of the sun's heat during winter. In the summer, the big overhangs provide shade and keep the interior climate healthy and energy-efficient. Additionally, technology as the solar cells and triple-glazed windows help to stabilise the climate.
The Nathan Headquarters have become a symbol for the correlation of thoughtful architecture and innovative technology - a centre for expertise and knowledge.
