In Diapori, two adjacent, coastal, traditional, stone buildings of 90and45 sqm., were renovated, with respect to their “identity”. Although Lemnos settlements lack in private courtyard, we transformed the large undamaged building into a holiday home and the small roofless building into a private yard, preserving the space’s brightness.
In the cottage, the previous openings were glass-covered with corten frames, while the former window became the main entrance with shutters similar to the initial ones. Metal bars cover the second building’s existing openings.

In the summerhouse, interior walls, floor and ceiling form an off-white cement mortar shell, except from the stone wall, hosting the fireplace and the revealed wooden roof beams. Facade openings and a new roof skylight let the sunlight in.
The cottage hosts a lower-level living room-kitchen and a higher-level bedroom with a private bathroom-WC and a dressing room. These two levels are connected through the kitchen’s linear corian counter wich becomes a bedroom seat. Hidden linear lights, running through the beams, the curtain’s cove and the bench, create an atmospheric effect. The interior cypress beams, the log table and seats match with the outer chestnut pergola covered with willow shade panels.

The adjacent building’s ground floor contains a barbeque-dining area and a living room with stone steps-seats leading through the -chestnut log-covered- concrete staircase to the new terrace with sea view. The walls were resin-reinforced, top-connected by a perimetric concrete beam, maintaining the old roof’s trace. 
Metal, glass, stone, wood, alang leaves, white fabric, rattan decorations and planted ceramic pots combine modern and traditional elements harmonically.
