London based architecture studio TiggColl has designed Orly’s House in East Sheen alongside OurHouse. This will be the first in a series of new locations for the UK’s leading group of London-focused family clubs.

Located in the centre of East Sheen’s thriving shopping district, Orly’s will see a vacant 1960s high street office building transform into a contemporary second home space for local families.

Set across five storeys, the House will feature a range of amenities for both children and adults. Facilities for children will include a kids’ club and crèche, creative play spaces and a jungle gym. Adult spaces will feature co-working areas, fitness, wellness studios and treatment rooms. Shared spaces for all members will span a family living room, children’s cinema, and swimming pools, alongside much more.

OurHouse’s offering is designed through the lens of both children and adults to create spaces that feel intuitive and welcoming. Detailed member personas, ranging from new parents to families balancing recreation, exercise and work, inform the design process for each new House. Every element at Orly’s has been carefully considered, from spatial priorities, activity adjacencies, and circulation flow, through to buggy storage, eateries and shared family spaces. The architects have optimised natural light and acoustics throughout to create a feeling of sanctuary, while working closely with play consultant House of Kin to ensure Orly’s attracts and engages children of all ages.

Central to the scheme is the comprehensive reworking of the front façade to relate to the scale and character of the neighbourhood. This includes a double-height animated ‘shop front’, complete with a play sculpture linking the ground and first floors, providing a unique 6m-high window display.

A rendered ground and first-floor plinth and street seating inset within a double-height arched colonnade, will create a clear design hierarchy that relates back to the primary facades along the high street. This is designed to enrich the surrounding streetscape and give the building a renewed sense of grandeur and fun.

Further interventions include the excavation of the basement to accommodate two dedicated teaching swimming pools for families to enjoy. To extend options for outdoors activities a new external play and games area have been added to the rear of the building.

Subject to planning, OurHouse will open two additional Houses in Clapham and Chiswick bringing leisure, lifestyle and childcare under one roof.
