The Golinelli Foundation is a centre dedicated to knowledge, innovation and culture covering a surface of 14.000 m2 in the city of Bologna.
In 2015, the works for the construction of the Arts and Sciences Centre come to an end under the guidance of the Mario Cucinella Architects studio, a space for “imagination and testing” of about 700 m2 devoted to highest flexibility and meant for exhibitions, meetings and shows.

A 30 by 20 metres parallelepiped, 8 metres high, composed by polycarbonate panels in clear colour, which reflect the sorrounding landscape during day time and are lit up during night time.
The centre was designed on the outside as a closed volume with a metal superstructure; a modular solution including the hall itself, partly accessible to visitors to reach small terraces from where views of the city can be appreciated.

For the realization of the façades, the product Panelpiù 40 Matt from Polypiù was used, an interlocking modular system in U.V. protected multiwall polycarbonate in thickness of 40mm. The Panelpiù sheets ensure high light transmission figures, excellent thermal-insulating properties and a stylish aesthetical effect thanks to the elimination of unpleasant joints.

The matt finish favours a more homogeneous diffusion of light, yet keeping the transparency, giving in this way a unique and stylish look to the building during night hours.
In 2003 The Golinelli Foundation was awarded with the Second prize at The Fasso Bartolo International Sustainable Architecture Prize, prize born by the will of making a wide public aware about architectures capable to be related in a balanced way with the environment, and conceived for the necessities of man, but focused on indiscriminating waste and on pollution.
