For decades, the wine cellar occupied the heart of the former Pampulhinha restaurant, a space that had previously housed the Provincial Bank. With the restaurant’s closure, the wine cellar was redesigned and assumed the role of protagonist within the space - without erasing its roots. More than a project, this is a place where tradition and affection have found new forms. Each label, each bottle, each gathering renews the legacy, transforming the space into a living place in constant movement.
LISTENING
It all starts with people. During the initial studies, alongside the daughters of patriarch Jaime, we immersed ourselves in the search for preserving and valuing emblematic built elements, such as the former bank vault, where the most special wines are now stored. Here, everything was designed for preservation: temperature, humidity, lighting and silence - because wine is also memory, and memory requires care. We used neuroscience tools applied to architecture to generate data that guided decisions with intentionality, resulting in a clear diagnosis of the human, technical, and symbolic needs of the project.
STRATEGY
We designed the project concept and spatial solutions aligned with the purpose, values and identity of the winery, combining strategic design, well-being and welcoming atmosphere. In this way, the space was zoned into two distinct sectors: the shop and the wine bar - for tastings and celebrations.
Right at the entrance, one element catches the eye: the large shelf made of wine boxes. Each mark, each stamp, each piece of wood brings the memory of a wine that passed through here and, in some way, remained. Each box was transformed into a drawer; together, they form a large cabinet that welcomes those who enter the shop environment.
Moving on to the wine bar, the red curtain organizes, directs and transforms. It is what guides the visitor to the tasting and celebration space. Along its path, the light warms, the sound softens and the presence intensifies. The movement of the fabric recalls the swirl of a wine glass - continuous and elegant, almost hypnotic. At the central counter, the light fixture made from repurposed bottles translates the soul of the project: respect for the material, transformation with meaning and an atmosphere that envelops - in light, form and time.
Everything here speaks of permanence: the basalt wall references the terroir of Rio Grande do Sul, the preserved wooden ceiling carries the emotional memory of the place; part of the original furniture from the former restaurant was repurposed - shelves, tables, chairs and granite counters continue to tell stories, now within a new context, connecting past and present.
EXPERIENCE
We developed the technical project and the detailing, coordinating all project disciplines - followed-up each stage, from execution to occupancy. At Adega Pampulhinha, every table was conceived as a place for lingering - not only for drinking, but for being. The soft lighting, the welcoming wood, the signage that brings out genuine smiles: everything invites a pause. Between yesterday and today, a place that renews itself without forgetting where it came from.
The result are spaces that inspire, strengthen the brand and generate real impact.
