This is a villa perched on a cliff overlooking the sea. The main design theme was to maximize the ocean view while creating a structure and spatial composition that responds to the unique conditions of the site.
A reinforced concrete wall, positioned along the cliff side, supports cantilevered steel beams that extend toward the sea, enabling a column-free space that opens fully to the view.
The plan is composed of a parallelogram grid based on two axes: the direction of the cliff slope and the direction of the sea.
The roof is supported by the steel truss structure with diagonal grid. The steel beams are left exposed as the ceiling design. The lower edge of the beams and the floor frames the horizontal panoramic view and guides the eyes naturally toward the coast line.At night, indirect lighting above the beams turns the ceiling into one big lighting object, adding the interior space with depth and character.
The client desired an impressive villa that would maximize the surrounding views to offer a memorable experience for guests. The staircase connecting the entrance to the main living area was designed to limit the view, heightening the impact of the panoramic view that unfolds upon entering the living room.
