ParkinGO is a long-term parking company, whose lots are situated a short distance away from the airport. Harried travelers pass through the space, almost always in a frantic rush. In thinking about its redesign, it was imperative to create an illusion that the space is simply an extension of the airport, thus reassuring the traveler that they had arrived. The check-in area, originally a gas station, was transformed from a stark, 1970's industrial building into a highly functional corridor, wherein internet access, vending machines and last-minute shopping are built into its walls. The block protrusions on the profile of the building emulate the not-too-far-off control towers of the airport. From there, one can view inbound and outbound traffic. The form of the white walls reflects the dynamism of the structure; the red accents emphasize the different functional areas; and a ribbon of perforated aluminum crisscross the space, following the trajectory of its many passersby.
