Plurien

Plurien duality

Atelier Victoria Migliore as Architects

In a mill dating from 1812 composed of two separate buildings, the architectural intervention creates a contemporary link between these two entities. The granite and pink sandstone rubble of the existing parts are highlighted. Here, minerals are dominant and the concrete of the project assumes a certain simplicity. The existing porous minerality appears in conjunction with a new and smooth minerality.

The project is a cottage aimed at welcoming guests around a communal table.

For customers passionate about gastronomy and wine, it was important that this 7-room cottage was part of an ecological approach, meeting the expectations of our time.

This extension project reorganises the topography of the site by inserting itself into it with restraint and with respect for its environment, thanks to the presence of a green roof and a concrete retaining wall. The oblique slices of the concrete of the roof provide a massive, angular, brutalist materiality and dialogue with the environment through its light, supple and wild plant drape.

The raw materiality of the concrete contrasts with a porous and old texture of the existing structure. The duality between these materials and the play between the constructive imprints of different eras leaves room for a sensitive interpretation.

This dialogue of periods and materialities establishes a visual and sensory game which allows the visitor to appreciate the poetry of the place and to intensify the exterior views of nature. This dialogue of periods and materialities establishes a visual and sensory game which allows the visitor to appreciate the poetry of the place and to intensify the exterior views of nature.
