Private House Affligem

This project started in fact as a smaler transformation project for the former existing house of 1998. The client asked there for a new kitchen and terrace and a complete transformation of the night - zone of the house but he ended up with a complete new building on a larger plot cause he could buy a piece of land next to the house.

First we made some sketches for the new kitchen and terrace but convinced the client very quickly to do more then just the parts he asked for. We made plans and asked for a building permit for a transformation of the house of 1998 which was already dated at that time. The problem with the existing house was that it didn’t use the location on top of the hill and it neglected the orientation.
On the same moment we received the permit the client also received the news that the plot next door was for sale. He immediately decided to buy it and asked for new plans, transformation of the existing part and an extension on the plot next door. A second building permit was asked.

In the end we decided to built a new house next to the existing. Later on this building was demolished and this location is serving now as a covered terrace and a swimming pool.

We choose bricks for the façade and wood for the entrance door and the garage doors at the street side of the house. We opened up the volume at the rear to profit of the spectacular view.
