A residence built in 1932 and its adjacent garage/stables are now lin¬ked by a sunroom to create a new spatial entity eliminating the some¬what confining dimensions of the original design. The new heart of the house is transferred into the garden. The client had previously commissioned the design of a dentist’s surgery in Woerden (1992-1993). Thanks to more than ten years’ experience, the ‘glass-triangle’Postel-Nijsse-Alverre could now provide a construc¬tion system without the need for steel columns. The result was the use of load-bearing glass on a scale considerably greater than the ‘Temple de l’Amour II’ (2001). The roof, measuring approximately 8 by 9 metres, is supported on two sides by glass façades and is covered in moss. As in the previous project, the roof drainage is unusual: the rainwater runs over the surface of the glass separating
