Quantum Building, Ghent

This office building is the first realisation within the Oude Dokken Master Plan. The project will have a pivotal function, between Dampoort station and Oude Dokken, between the city centre and the 19th-century belt, on one of the city’s busiest access routes, on a historically significant site, in full development…

It is designed as a high-quality sustainable office building that aims to set the tone for further developments. Plan-wise, an H-shaped figure was opted for; it ensures optimum daylighting, it makes the south-facing end façade less massive and it ensures that every employee has a “front row seat”, so to speak.

The atrium plays an important role as a climate machine within the technical concept. The southern façade recedes at ground level, creating the new ‘Octrooiplein’ along where pedestrians and cyclists can easily reach the redesigned banks of the Achterdok. The building is Breaam Excellent.
