The client wanted a family residence in this high profile area of Jaipur, in a contemporary style. The client did not want it to be the usual sandstone architecture of Rajasthan, yet wanted it to be climatically viable.

The area of the plot is 650 sq.yds.The house has been kept open from all four sides while keeping the servant quarters a the end of the driveway.

The complete outer envelope of the house has been built with a cavity. The 1ft. thick wall constitutes of two half brick thick (4.5") walls + 1" insulating material along with outer wall and a 2" cavity between them. The west side is kept with minimum windows and south side(rear side of the house) has been provided with 4' cantilever to shade the windows and also insulated double glass units have been used for heat insulation in these windows. A lot of light has been allowed into the house with big windows on north and east side. This helps in maintaining a temperature difference of atleast 8-10 degrees from outside even when the air conditioning is not into effect.
