Jeanne Dekkers Architecture was asked to create a design for an apartment building with 60 senior apartments, 3000 m2 of commercial units and 200 parking spaces. The site is located in a new residential area in Cuijk called Heeswijkse plassen; De Lavendel is a main local avenue. The volume undulates along the avenue like a ship riding the waves. Balconies and piers are incorporated in the elongated brick façade. The kinks in the back and front façades enhance the spatial effect on either side. On the ground floor level a connecting route passes under the building. The main entrance to the supermarket is inside this 'gate'. All apartments have a magnificent view of the water. The entrance is at the back of the building. A vivid façade was created by widening the walkway in some areas. The car park, which was deliberately turned into a green area, was given special attention.
