Revisionist History

This renovation of a 1920’s Oakland Craftsman balances historic renewal with modern requirements. To create a more contemporary plan, we removed an original hutch separating the kitchen and dining room, opening the previously compartmentalized quarters into an expansive, light-filled central gathering place.

Historic leaded glass cabinets and windows were meticulously restored and augmented to preserve the residence's tactile history, now serving as a backdrop for contemporary furniture and art. Guided by a commitment to sustainability, the project integrates high-performance systems and salvaged materials in the service of longevity and efficiency. The result is an open, breathable interior that honors its heritage while adapting seamlessly to the contours of 21st-century living.
