RITTEN LODGE

Row house. Levels. A view that stretches far.

High above Bolzano, overlooking the mountains, Ritten Lodge sits within a fabric of row houses — and represents an evolution of it.
Two stacked units, organized vertically: on the lower floor, an independent apartment; above, the home of a young family. The sleeping area on the first level, the living spaces opening up on the top floor.

The challenge: to expand the attic without disrupting the symmetry of the façade. The solution: to take up the roofline of the neighboring buildings, extend it, and let it converge into a new ridge. The result is a generous living space that turns its interior height into its defining strength.

Toward the outside: a contemporary language, yet rooted in its context. The dark larch cladding of the balconies introduces a present-day mark, one capable of engaging in dialogue with the built environment.
