Concept:
This exquisite three-bedroom residence, envisioned for a discerning family of three and their occasional guests, celebrates the timeless ethos of Indian living — where vibrancy, culture, and comfort coalesce with understated sophistication. Conceived as both sanctuary and statement, the home evokes warmth and soulfulness, subtly weaving colour, craft, and culture into its very fabric.
The homeowners had a clear aspiration to create a home deeply rooted in Indian heritage yet expressed through a refined, contemporary lens. The design narrative unfolds as a dialogue between openness and intimacy, where spaces breathe freely while preserving the comforting cocoon of domestic life. Every corner embodies a quiet luxury: not loud or ostentatious, but deliberate, tactile, and emotionally resonant.
From the very entrance, the home gestures toward India’s artistic lineage. The foyer console and living room wall feature hand-painted motifs that pay homage to traditional Indian artistry, reinterpreted with modern restraint. The reintroduction of Chintz textiles, once a symbol of India’s textile mastery and later enriched by European influence, finds renewed expression here through Ritu Kumar’s curtains as a luxurious ode to authenticity and craftsmanship that anchors the home’s design story.
Every design decision reflects a symphony of materiality and meaning. Bespoke furniture, curated artworks, and handcrafted elements unite through a shared language of warmth and precision. The furnishings, adorned with zari-embroidered accents and handwoven fabrics, lend the space a subtle opulence that is tactile and layered, never overwhelming. Each room unfolds as a composition of textures, tones, and craft, celebrating the idea that true luxury resides in detail and depth.
In the dining area, the focus shifts to quiet elegance. A stunning Pichwai artwork from Kalakari Haath becomes the focal point: a visual anchor that ties the dining experience to cultural memory. The kitchen, in contrast, embraces a lighter rhythm: soft sage green and aqua glass tilesintroduce freshness and luminosity, enlivening even the most utilitarian moments. The result is a balance between heritage and modern function with spaces that nurture both tradition and contemporary living.
The children’s room continues the home’s narrative of thoughtful restraint and artistic flourish. A hand-painted accent wall, crafted by a skilled artist, lends personality and warmth, while a lively yet sophisticated palette transcends gender norms, embodying inclusivity and individuality.
The master bedroom marks a transition from overt traditional cues to a more nuanced play of pattern, print, and material. A handcrafted teak wood bed commands the space, its natural grain and structure lending gravitas and warmth. A sculptural table lamp balances scale and illumination, while an intricately carved dressing unit infuses artisanal charm. Layered textiles, rich woods, and diffused lighting converge to create an ambience of enveloping intimacy and a quiet reminder that interiors are as much about feeling as they are about form.
Even in the guest bedroom, attention to proportion, light, and craft prevails. The hand-carved teak bed, brass Moroccan lamp, and lilac-on-white drapery transform a light-deficient corner into an inviting retreat suffused with serenity.
Throughout, the home’s styling becomes the invisible thread that ties it all together, from art placement and textile selection to lighting design and accessory curation. Each object, material, and finish resonates with a collective intent: to create an environment that is evocative yet effortless.
