Two architects returned to Brazil after ten years of voluntary exile. They were looking for a place, something special, no more depersonalized commercial rooms - they wanted to set up a studio in a place that could hold their objects, books, and the dreams of their return.
They found a strange, underused piece of land, with orange trees and lots of bushes: a kind of oasis between buildings under construction. There, sharing space with a music studio, was an empty and, fortunately, available half-water.
There was enough space, but a small renovation was needed. The original perimeter was maintained, the roof was redone, and new openings replaced the existing ones - more natural light and ventilation were needed. A support core was built with a bathroom and a small pantry - a volume that helped to configure a reception area.
A collaborative workspace, integrated and without hierarchies, was idealized, resulting in a simple, essential project that sought to value constructive elements and materials present in Brazilian architecture.
Today, twelve years have passed. The surrounding buildings have thickened, amplifying their shade. The vegetation grew and embraced the simple architecture. Inside, the models of the projects took over the walls, telling the story of the ideas developed in that place. The office, created by the architect couple, grew and finally put down roots - in an alliance with nature and with materials that do not seek to deny the passage of time.
