Sala Mostre FMG

A singular space composed of two large continuous environments and connected by a small narrow. The environment was characterised by a stratification of different exhibitions by many architects. The task was to return unity, legibility and emotion to the exhibition space of the FMG marbles factory.

We have chosen to take inspiration from a monumental theme of the architecture of the past: the large colonnaded structure, a space full of buttresses, pillars, pylons. This is not only due to a conceptual choice but, precisely because of the low height of the environment and its strong horizontality that made it particularly suitable for being punctuated in several parts by vertical structures.

We therefore thought of treating the hollows with a single background color. A kind of mantle wraps the floors and walls in white statuary reflection. The vertical elements mask some steel pillars and other times they crowd the space for free. They are supports that show the different colors and materials produced by the factory by themselves. Ultimately, it is a space that does not show the possible applications of the material but that strengthens the construction of a single architectural environment by focusing on suggestion and the enigma. A mirror of water concludes the basin suggesting a possible pool without forcing its natural unity. A thin window composed of polychrome sand showcases completes this architecture covered by a craquelé of mirrors to break its temporality by turning it to the future and expanding its perception in an illusory way.
