Desiring a new architecture expression to herald the new development of the Electronic and Communication Engineering Department, this new addition to the Singapore Polytechnic has been designed with learning and exploration in mind, with its well equipped amenities, including 50 laboratories and a network communication centre.
Its triangular courtyard provides shade while encouraging exploration within its three distinct volumes clustered within. This makes for a dynamic learning environment that complements and does not distract, a concept much like the palette of the building - grey punctuated with a vibrant yellow, a winning combination at the SIA-ICI Colour Awards (Gold).
Another accolade this project has been given is the gold award in the SIA Facade Design Excellence Awards, due to its dynamic exterior possessing a form that is urban, dramatic and practical all at once.
