Located in Botafogo, a gastronomy school called Scuola, idealized by Elia.Schramm, aims to spread education and culture, contributing to social transformation focused on the surrounding area. Free training classes are offered for Bar and Restaurant sectors for socially vulnerable people during the day, and at night special dinners, tastings and workshops are scheduled, through which the aim is to generate income to fund the running of the school.
The premise for the School project was to create an environment capable of providing a immersion in its own playful and welcoming universe. The idea of establishing a contrast with the context, in addition to generate surprise through the interior, also generates curiosity through the facade, which is interesting to communicate to the surroundings a new use of that space. The general atmosphere of the School has as principle at the same time be linked to the origins of the project, telling a little of Elia's own story, who has Italian decent, but also be an inspiring environment, open to receiving new stories.
The demolition carried out allowed the integration of spaces on different levels, as well as allowing greater incidence of natural light from the pátio in back of the property.
The new layout organizes its circulation through a main axis aligned with the access door and accommodates occupancy with the main uses at the other side of the space. On the upper level there is a balcony on the island where classes take place and on the access level there is a table for 14 people.
