Superficially the detached house establishes familiarity to the surrounding conventional architectures, but at the same time emanates from new relations reporting about today’s constructive possibilities. The structural openings of the main facades and the compositionally set hole-openings of the side facades point out the inner space relations, the predominance of the hillside situation and first and foremost emphasize the search of a most tenuous balance between closed and opened surfaces. In a striking simultaneity the house shows mannered proportions and reminds of trivial, peripheral buildings. The imminent disavowal of the context is reconciled by the material and its application. The wooden shingles hold the potential of overreaching formal possibilities that celebrate the labour-intensive construction, the craftsmanship but also luminosity. The inside spaces are organized as a sequence of big chambers around a central staircase – each room shows specific determination and height development.
