Located in the north of Mexico City, the project addresses the transformation of a 1960s industrial warehouse—previously underutilized—into a dynamic institutional space that meets both the operational and representative needs of the union. Beyond a simple renovation, the intervention is conceived as a strategy for urban regeneration, reclaiming an idle structure and endowing it with a new architectural identity.

The proposal reorganizes the programmatic layout, establishing a new entrance on the secondary street, introducing an access plaza and staircase, and redefining the building’s relationship with its urban context. Inside, the zoning differentiates the common-use areas on the ground floor—such as the auditorium, classrooms, cafeteria, and medical offices—from the private and collaborative workspaces on the upper level, fostering transparency and operational efficiency.

One of the main technical challenges was the rehabilitation of the existing roof, which had deteriorated over time and was composed of obsolete materials. A two-inch insulated multipanel system was integrated, enhancing thermal and acoustic performance without overloading the original structure. The addition of skylights and interior courtyards further improves natural lighting, reducing dependence on artificial sources and optimizing interior comfort.

At the core of the building, a central staircase is conceived as a meeting point and open forum, encouraging informal interaction and collaboration among users. The interplay between open and enclosed areas, together with the material palette—concrete, wood, and perforated screens—reinforces the institutional character while ensuring spatial flexibility.

The project not only redefines how the organization inhabits its headquarters but also proposes a model for architectural reuse with low environmental impact, avoiding demolition and the contaminating processes associated with new construction. Through a precise and strategic intervention, the building is reactivated as a hub of activity, consolidating a new spatial identity for the institution and contributing to the revitalization of its surroundings.
