The project involves more than just renovating an existing space; it is an excavation operation, both physical and conceptual. Original materials, traces and structures resurface during this process, including Venetian terrazzo, cement tiles, reinforced concrete beams and partially restored frescoes. These elements are reintegrated into the new project, becoming its structure and language.

The layout is characterised by fluidity, eliminating rigid hierarchies and clear thresholds to create a continuous sequence of spaces that promote visual permeability and the coexistence of functions.

Attention to construction detail is evident in every choice, from the most obvious to the most subtle. One example is the niche dedicated to the statue of Saint Sebastian, which was created using a specially designed template and formwork to integrate it into the architectural composition rather than simply as an ornament.

This level of detail is evident throughout the project, including in areas that might be considered secondary, such as the bathrooms, which are designed as true domestic 'sanctuaries'. In the guest bathroom, for instance, a small painting replaces the traditional mirror, inviting pause and contemplation.

The kitchen, the heart of everyday life, is designed according to a logic that recalls the kitchens of the 1930s. Back then, the space was divided into three areas: the kitchen itself, an open cupboard, and a technical area. This structure is reflected in the design through three distinct elements: a convivial and functional central island; a glass and wood display cabinet, reminiscent of the open cupboard, for displaying crockery and other items; and a work unit that integrates more technical functions. Each element has its own identity, yet they are all in harmonious dialogue with each other.

To complete the ensemble, the hood is transformed from an essential technical component into a luminous sculpture. Its octagonal shape becomes a distinctive feature and visual focal point.

Materials and light are conceived as design tools and combined coherently, without compromise, to serve purely decorative purposes. Carrara marble, selected directly from the quarry, is combined with steel, glass, and natural oak to create a harmonious balance of textures and colours that enhances the rooms' material quality.

The furnishings, which are often custom-designed, depart from a recognisable aesthetic in order to become true extensions of the architecture itself. Defining thresholds, generating micro-environments and contributing to the overall quality of the space, they integrate organically and functionally into the project.
