See how Steni Nature and Steni Colour panels were used to renovate 130 senior citizens’ apartments in Nijmegen.

A total of 130 apartments for elderly people in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, have been completely renovated using Steni façade panels. The 130 apartments in Zwanenburg/Bloemberg had become so run down on account of age, wear and tear that they no longer satisfied the safety requirements for residences of this type.

Keen to stay living here
The residents, whose average age is 75, were keen to stay living in their apartments. They wanted to have their apartments looking modern again, and to have someone deal with the issues they had long been complaining about. In short, they wanted their apartments to be better suited to everyday living.

Complete renovation
The apartments were in extremely poor condition, which translated into less than optimal living conditions for the residents. In close consultation with the residents, the decision was therefore made to carry out a complete, sustainable renovation of the apartments, with measures including improved insulation for both heating and noise levels, better ventilation and a new façade.

Steni Nature and Steni Colour
It was decided to use Steni Nature and Steni Colour panels for the façade. A total of 4,500 m² Steni Nature SN140 FM panels were installed, along with 600 m² of Steni Colour SN8020 panels.The developer chose Steni on account of the robustness of the façade panels, the 40-year warranty and the options for combining colours and structures with panels from a single supplier. The project has now been completed and the delighted residents are enjoying life in their “new” apartments.
