KIAS have designed an interior for a flower shop “Sorcery Dressing Ephemeral” in Daikanyama, Tokyo located near Shibuya at the leisurely neighborhood surrounded by café, restaurants and high brand fashion stores. The existing two story concrete building was originally used as residence and now transformed into a flower shop for a florist known for arranging exotic flowers.
The water fountain finished with green mosaic tiles sits adjacent to the entrance serving fresh water for vases of various sizes every day. KIAS sought to reflect the experimental spirit of the florist by applying materials in their distinctive features such as transparency of glass partition, blackened stainless steel working counter, raw steel sliding door, dark cedar flooring, and hand-blown glass pendant light.
Natural daylight lights up the plants and flowers and reflect its colors to the light grey wall and ceilings. In the staircase of the atrium where natural light falls, ivy plants rise up and connect the view to the upper floor space. The interior design is carefully constructed by selecting only natural materials so that beautiful exotic flowers can shine in various colors.
