Subverting the classic tropes that dominate whisky bar design, Studio Y has crafted the interiors in line with Starward’s playful, vibrant and youthful brand identity. The oversized warehouse space has been partitioned into distinct zones, some large and some more intimate, where guests can enjoy Starward’s food and whisky offerings. Studio Y has used sweeping full-height metal chains to gently demarcate each area and add a subtle dose of colour. 

The brand’s signature hues – deeply contrasting orange and blue, inspired by the natural terrain of Australia – have been rendered to full effect with bold colour blocking. An iridescent blue speciality paint by Scanlan & Makers transforms from a bright metallic in daylight to a deep celestial navy by night. Illuminated blue and orange acrylic lends a futuristic transparency. 

These bold colours are juxtaposed with the existing weathered concrete floors of the warehouse space, while Studio Y has carefully matched stone and laminate finishes that blend in seamlessly with the existing conditions. Plush velvet upholstery adds a soft touchpoint within this otherwise stark industrial environment.
