The oversized warehouse space has been partitioned into distinct zones, some large and some more intimate, where guests can enjoy Starward’s food and whisky offerings. Studio Y has used sweeping full-height metal chains to gently demarcate each area and add a subtle dose of colour.
The brand’s signature hues – deeply contrasting orange and blue, inspired by the natural terrain of Australia – have been rendered to full effect with bold colour blocking. An iridescent blue speciality paint by Scanlan & Makers transforms from a bright metallic in daylight to a deep celestial navy by night. Illuminated blue and orange acrylic lends a futuristic transparency.
These bold colours are juxtaposed with the existing weathered concrete floors of the warehouse space, while Studio Y has carefully matched stone and laminate finishes that blend in seamlessly with the existing conditions. Plush velvet upholstery adds a soft touchpoint within this otherwise stark industrial environment.
