At Sterlington High School, athletics are an important part of the school’s identity and culture. Recognizing the need for facilities that better support student-athletes, the Sterlington High School Athletic and Academic Additions & Renovations project placed a strong focus on transforming the campus athletic complex through the construction of a new football field house addition.
Designed by TBA Studio, the project centers on a significant expansion of the existing football facility—creating a modern training environment that better supports the needs of the Sterlington Panthers football program.
The new football field house addition connects seamlessly to the existing structure while dramatically expanding its functionality. Inside, the facility includes a spacious locker room designed to accommodate the full team, dedicated coaches’ offices that provide space for planning and collaboration, and a fully equipped weight room that allows athletes to train year-round in a purpose-built environment.
A defining architectural feature of the facility is the large lobby overlooking the football field, which serves as both a gathering space and a visual centerpiece for the athletic complex. A striking glass façade fills the lobby with natural light, creating an open and welcoming environment for players, coaches, and visitors. The space also provides an ideal setting for displaying school branding, team history, and championship moments—reinforcing the pride and tradition of Sterlington athletics.
The design carefully balances modern architectural elements with materials already present on campus, blending contemporary metal panel accents with the school’s existing palette. This approach allows the new addition to feel like a natural extension of the campus while elevating the overall identity of the athletic complex.
While the football field house serves as the centerpiece of the project, several supporting improvements further enhance the campus. The work includes new softball and baseball field houses with modern locker rooms and team spaces, along with targeted renovations to classroom and multi-purpose areas. The project also includes an expansion of the school’s welding shop, supporting Sterlington High School’s growing technical education programs.
Together, these improvements strengthen both the athletic and academic environments at Sterlington High School. At its heart, however, the new football field house stands as a symbol of the school’s commitment to its students—providing a facility where athletes can prepare, train, and represent their school with pride.
