This is an innovative development for much needed high quality student accommodation and offices in Camden, London. The scheme replaces an existing office building that sits in a predominantly residential area.
The student rooms are all single occupancy with common space at roof level onto Belmont Street. The students may attend different universities, but the intent is to provide a modern and memorable building with a character that transcends a normal hall of residence or hotel. Our design includes a high level of prefabrication to overcome the problem of inner-city shortages in construction workers as well as potentially halving the time on-site, whilst creating a building of outstanding quality.
The scheme is being designed with a sustainable focus as an integral part of the design. A framework – `Securing the Future’ – is applied to ensure that the development is relating to its environment, society and economy.
