Commissioned by the Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec in autumn 2009, the installation Territoires habités, which is not without reminding us of the work of the artist Jean-Paul Lemieux, is an attempt to reveal the fragility and the essence which inhabit the landscape.
Using very basic tools like poles and white linen lined up to create a 200 meters long white strip in the landscape, Territoires habités was set in 3 different landscapes with very distinct natures: first on the shores of Baie St-Paul, then, in the forest on the south side of the St-Laurence River and finally, on The Battlefields Park in Quebec City.
Placed on the shores of Baie Saint-Paul, the installation gives power to the horizon line and reveals the delicacy of the tide. Positioned in the maple forest, it shows us colors underlining the surroundings and reveals the strength of the forest. In winter, on the battlefield park in Quebec City, the installation captures the wind and the powerful turmoil of the landscape.
