Conceived for a family of four, the TESS Apartment was born from the challenge of resolving the entire program for a couple with two children in a 170-square-meter space, without sacrificing the fluidity that defines the studio's signature. The answer did not come from a conventional reorganization of the floor plan, but from a gesture that permeates all of SUITE's work—taking the apartment's own structure as creative material, transforming constructive limitations into a sculptural opportunity.
This logic gives rise to the "cocoon" configured at the entrance. Walls and ceiling in woodwork envelop those who arrive in an intimate space, a deliberate pause before the revelation. Upon crossing this wooden volume, the resident emerges into the social area, where generous openings dissolve the limits of the floor plan and flood the environment with light. A poetic reading of the space: closing to then open, containing to then expand. This same woodwork continues along the intimate corridor and guides the path to the bedrooms, stitching the entire apartment together in a single continuous gesture.
The mashrabiya panel stands out in the living room as a hand-sculpted element that delicately resolves the relationship between the kitchen and the social area, integrating without eliminating privacy when necessary.
In the natural stones of the powder room, the project allows itself a gesture of boldness: a more vibrant tone breaks the neutrality of the palette. Unpolished, they preserve their raw texture, a choice that warms the environment and reinforces the welcoming atmosphere. On the floor, large-format porcelain tiles combine aesthetics and practicality, responding to the real demands of daily life for a family with young children.
The furniture follows the architectural thinking that embraces the apartment's structure. The column became the starting point for the design of a custom-made sofa that wraps around it and organizes two programs in a single gesture: living room and home theater. The palette of rich textures in fabrics, woods, and natural finishes deepens the project's connection with the landscape, while signed pieces of Brazilian design reveal themselves in the curation.
The project reinvents the traditional logic of floor plan integration, in an apartment where the limits of the original structure were reinterpreted as an opportunity: an architecture that transforms restriction into narrative, and program into experience.
