As the owner of The Aquila gazed out to the horizon in search of inspiration, a Sea Eagle soared into view, landing elegantly on the adjacent balcony. Thus the Aquila was born. Aquila, Latin for Eagle, a majestic creature admired the world over as living symbol of power, freedom, and transcendence.
The architects were hired to design a villa positioned on a slope and 30m back from the water, as required by the local building code. The brief was to include as much of the existing vegetation as possible, including a large tree, on a 2.5 Acres land.
The solution was to design a horizontal spread, centered around the main area where a dramatic spiral staircase located. The 7-bedrooms are spread into the two pavilions, providing privacy to the master bedroom.
A 30m infinity pool is placed in front of the villa, overlooking 165m coastline. A Thai-infused style and pattern is seen throughout, including the pavilion roof design and use of teak.
This project took 11 years to build. The villa includes a gym, a spa and a professional kitchen. The space allows for seating capacity of 80 people for events. Full-time staff including a chef allows holiday goers to celebrate and vacation in private at a secluded spot with a stunning view.
