SPLITTERWERK realized world`s first architecture with an algae-bioreactor-facade at the IBA Hamburg.


This housing-project is using PBR (photobioreactors) for the cultivation of microalgae.


The BIQ - Das Algenhaus - The Clever Treefrog was designed in cooperation between SPLITTERWERK, Arup and Bollinger und Grohmann for Otto Wulff und SSC.


On Wednesday, 24th of April 2013, the official filling of the glass panels with micro-algae took place. The press was invited
