The interior design firm infused the resort with a playful, artistic, and colorful aesthetic that celebrates the island’s rich history. The design aims to attract urban, design-savvy travelers looking for a creative and original destination.

Located on the picturesque Adriatic Sea waterfront, The Isolano Resort offers 49 rooms and suites, two outdoor pools, a beach area with a bar, diverse dining options, and an extensive spa. The resort’s prime location, just a short walk from the medieval town of Cres, provides a stunning backdrop of ancient architecture and natural beauty.
Kristina Zanic, CEO of the studio and a Croatian expatriate, explains: "The idea was to create an environment that appeals to young urban travelers while offering a sense of nostalgia. The historic integrity of the town is so well preserved that we felt it was important to honour that and give the resort’s guests a taste of it through the design. It’s a modern resort with an ancient spirit."
New Village Chic: A Contemporary Interpretation
The design narrative, centred around a ‘Village Chic’ aesthetic, reflects a contemporary interpretation of local history and culture. The interiors feature time-worn textures paired with modern elements, creating a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere.
Eclectic and Vibrant Interiors
Upon entering the resort, guests are welcomed by a lobby with a laidback and playful ambiance. The eclectic style incorporates textured base materials and modern interpretations of medieval black iron details, complemented by urban furnishings that subtly reference local crafts.
Sculptural forms, mixed patterns, and vibrant colours ensure there is always something intriguing to catch the eye. This direction continues in the guestrooms and suites, offering modern comfort with warm timber finishes, vibrant colors, and artsy furniture and accessories. The mythical panther, the emblem of the town, also adds a touch of local legend as it adorns various interior spaces throughout the resort.
