A new era for the Keller Pavilion
The pavilion is part of acomprehensive redevelopmentproject of a property ensemble on aplatform built in the 1960s in theBeaugrenelle district, including a landscaped platformopen to the public and two levelsbeneath it that constitute an urbanlogistical platform.
Exemplary materials
From the outset, La PosteImmobilier set an ambitious goal touse only reused and bio-sourcedmaterials for this site. Theenvironmental approach with nuncarchitectes includes reusingdismantled materials and creating apassive envelope with bio-sourcedand local geo-sourced materials.The original concrete structure wasconserved and clad with pre-greyedwood. Elements like guardrails, theterrace's concrete slab, and interiorwood carpentry were also reused. A suite of bioclimatic systems, suchas natural ventilation, optimizes usercomfort and meets passiveconstruction standards without air-conditioning. The thermal insulationof the façades and the roof spacesconsists of bales of straw and woodfiber. The interior counter partition ofthe façades is made of mud bricks.The roof has been greened, reducingthe heat island effect and limitingrainwater flow into the storm sewersystem.
Long-lasting structure
When the project was initiated, thecompany taking it over was not yetdecided. The pavilion was thereforedesigned to be flexible andreconfigurable, with false floors,stacked lavatories, limited partitionwalls, a façade pattern with infinitepossibilities to reconfigure, whilstfreeing up the floors to be adaptedto diverse future projects. The installation of an institution ofhigher learning is planned. It will welcome its first class inSeptember 2026.
