We were the original architects for this house. It was one of our early projects. Our clients didn’t want to spend money and the building was never finished how we envisaged. Twenty years later there was an opportunity for a second bit of cherry. We were asked to update our own work and we loved it. The nature and the form of the building did not change. They are timeless and did not have to change. What we have changed are the interiors. We brought in new finishes, mostly timber in most subtle and elegant way. We cladded the central core of the building which stretches from top level where the entry is to four levels below.

The interiors were conceptualised around the nordic marine aesthetic - calm and restrained, but firm. The zinc roof is still tilted to bring in northern light and the big skylight over the helical white stair. If I am not mistaken this was one of the first, if not the first helical star in a house in Sydney. This is also where we have invented a detail and modified the sliding doors to enable inside and outside to be at the same level.
