The Parlour Room

The brief was to transform the existing interiors into a soft and textured timeless oasis. A calm, airy and relaxing haven offering the perfect beachside escape for luxury beauty treatments. The materials and finishes reflect the brands dedication to refined and relaxed beauty, while sustaining the use and functionality of the space.

The Parlour Room (TPR) is one of two concept stores located in Clovelly, creating an all encompassing destination, committed to helping clients look and feel their best.

Natalie Ferrari (Owner and Founder of TPR): “After half a decade since its last renovation, it was high time for a fresh and modern makeover. The new look embodies TPR’s ethos, offering a tactile experience of tonal and timeless materiality, allowing clients to indulge while they move through the spaces, surrounded by the positive and empowering community that we are at TPR. I’m in
love with the natural accents which reflect the true essence of natural beauty. The hints of deep burgundy and subtle pinks give it that feminine edge.”

Alex Morrison: “Natalie reached out to me last year about redesigning her original salon in Clovelly. We met and I instantly liked her, she was bubbly, stylish and had created an amazing business that has been thriving for the past 10 years. As I lived only a few suburbs away, I already knew the brand and was very excited to take on the project”

The two main features of the salon are the reception area and the downstairs nail room. In the reception area sits a custom made, curved burgundy sofa that hugs a viola marble coffee table, creating a lounging space where clients can relax and feel at home while waiting for their treatments. The calming tones of the travertine reception desk welcome clients to the salon, surrounded by brushed stainless steel shelves displaying numerous luxury products available for clients to purchase.

The nail room features a custom pedicure station, with cosy burgundy seats, timber detail and travertine features, resting on warm grey terrazzo flooring. The manicure table sits in the centre of the space, surrounded by warm textured walls, travertine arches and soft curtains that gently sway in the ocean breeze, while fresh coastal air moves through the space. The interactions with joinery have been carefully considered to balance the room, offering in a different tactile experience for each treatment.

Alex Morrison: “The main challenges were ensuring we had the right finishes to sustain the functionality of the space. Natalie and I spent weeks testing samples with acetone, tint, fake tan - you name it! It was really important to us that we undertook these steps in the initial stages of the design process to ensure we were creating something sustainable.”

The end result: A soft and airy wellness escape for the brands loyal clients to relax and enjoy a luxury pampering experience.
