The Social Hub, a certified B Corp combining hospitality, work, learning and social interaction, has transformed its Florence property on Via Belfiore with a new wellness hub. Located on the fourth floor, the 1,000 sqm space brings together a fully refurbished gym, massage room, sauna, Pilates studio, changing rooms and toilets.
Appointed to deliver the refurbishment, Agilité transformed the existing gym into a larger and more versatile environment. The space was almost entirely stripped back, with the perimeter walls, staircase and lift retained before the new fit-out was built. Working within an operating hotel, the project also required close coordination with guests, hotel management and the client’s on-site teams throughout the works.
The project was delivered against a tight programme, with works starting only a few days after the appointment. Building on a similar concept previously delivered in Barcelona, Agilité worked closely with The Social Hub’s design team and architects to adapt the concept to Italian regulations and site conditions.
The final space combines bold colours and energetic finishes with practical solutions, including the reuse of existing elements where possible. One example was the red athletic path running through the gym, for which Agilité developed an alternative painted finish when the originally specified material could not be approved locally.
