The Triptych

The Triptych was designed as three distinct wings combined to create a single landed dwelling house for a family comprising of a mother, her 2 daughters and their families. Each wing is dedicated to the requirements of each family member, yet forming a congruous whole.

The triptych of wings is distinguished by varying volumes and application of architectural screens and metal accents. Despite subtle differences, a harmonious palette of materials and consistent design language is employed throughout to establish a coherent visual identity.

Central to our concept is the creation of shared spaces that foster interaction among family members. In response to the site context, the blocks are placed in a triangular layout, encompassing a central courtyard with lush greenery and a swimming pool. Expansive full-height glass sliding doors provide uninterrupted views from each wing towards the central courtyard, an oasis in the heart of the home.

In the same spirit of infusing natural daylight and ventilation into the house, the central courtyard seamlessly extends down to the basement via an elliptical void. The basement serves as a continuation of shared spaces, offering a wellness area with a gym, spa, and entertainment room, all thoughtfully arranged around this central void.

Each wing is also provided with a key feature which echoes our core design ethos of channelling natural light into the space:

- Main Wing: A double volume foyer accentuated by a skylight at the main entrance.
- Wing 2: A customised 7m high bookshelf, a statement piece complemented by equally tall glass windows.
- Wing 3: A large seamless connection to a tranquil water feature beside the living room, adorned by a commissioned teardrop sculpture.

The essence of the design lies in its balance between individuality and cohesiveness, creating an architectural triptych while embodying our approach to multigenerational living.
